Trout Unlimited meeting
The Clear Fork Chapter of Trout Unlimited will meet Saturday, March 14 from noon to 3 p.m., at the Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake Park, 5710 12th St NW, in Canton, OH. This will be a joint meeting with the monthly winter Fly-Tying Get-Togethers sponsored by John Rochus of Fly Fishing Excursions of Ohio. Snack foods and drinks will be provided.
The featured speaker will be Tim Cammisa, a fly fishing and fly tying professional from Western Pennsylvania (http://?www.trout and feather.com/) who will speak on "Fishing success with Emergers." A fly fisherman and fly tier for over 30 years, Cammisa makes fly fishing and tying tutorials and posts them on You Tube. Tips and techniques will be discussed. Cammisa will explain what an emerger is, share some of his most successful patterns, and show the audience techniques that will help to catch more fish.
Door prizes will be given and raffle tickets sold. A drawing will then be held for a new Temple Forks Outfitter 5-weight, 9-foot fly rod and matching fly reel, perfect for trout fishing. Camissa will demonstrate how to tie some of his emerger patterns. Bring your fly-tying vice and tools, if you wish to tie these patterns. Materials will be available. All meetings of the Clear Fork Chapter TU are open to the public and anyone interested in fishing and cold water fisheries should plan to attend.
Remember, as of March 1, a new Ohio fishing license is required, and this year there are some changes, starting with the increase from $19 to $25. Ohio’s resident fishing licenses are now valid for one year from the date of purchase. Ohio hunting licenses, though, remain at $19 and still expire on the last day of February.
The Baltic Conservation Club Spring Shoot will be Saturday, April 4 starting at 10 a.m. at the club. The club will have a trap shoot, raffle tickets, and meat prizes. A food stand will also be available. The club is located at 5650 Troendly Road S.W. Stonecreek, OH 43864.
