The Freeport Running Raiders are pleased to sponsor the 10th Freeport 5 Miler Run & Walk on Saturday, March 14. The event is for all ages and will begin at the Freeport Park. Following the race, refreshments for participants will be provided and awards be be given out at approximately 11 a.m. at the finish line at the James Clark Fire Station on State Route 800.

Freeport Volunteer Fire Department members will meet at 7:30 p.m. March 9, at the James Clark Fire Station.

Lakeland Democrat Women will meet at 7 p.m. March 9, at Steele Crest Community Room.

Freeport Village Council will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. March 11, at town hall. This is open to everyone, and you can bring your complaints.

Clark Memorial Branch Library will sponsor a "Seated Workout" at 3:30 p.m. each Thursday in March and April. It’s never too late to start an exercise program and reap the benefits of physical activity

Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. Friday, March 13, at West Chester Senior Center.

March 12, at 6:30 p.m. will be Open Mic night at Deersville General Store. 

March 19-23 at 6 p.m. will be auditions for Beauty and the Beast at the Deersville United Methodist Church.

Blue Ribbon 4-H Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the West Chester United Methodist Church.

Several Republicans from the Freeport area attended the Lincoln Day Dinner at the Harrison County Fairgrounds Thursday, Feb. 20. Ohio Supreme Court Justice, Sharon Kennedy was the guest speaker.

The Clark branch library hosted a Valentine’s Day Box Show Off Contest. There were 16 decorated box entries and 227 people voted. People’s Choice voting was held with winners including: Bristol Tipton, first place; Katie Winesickle, second; and Luke Smith, third. 

On March 5, Miss Mary held the Pre-school Story Hour program with 24 children attending. Most of the children wore their pajamas for Pajama Day at Lakeland Academy School. They started out with an exercise singing "Welcome Everyone" & "I’m So Happy." Miss Mary’s question was "Who’s The Biggest Bear In the World" and each child voted with a sticker and the winner was the Polar Bear. Miss Mary read the book "Polar Bears" and played a video while the children cut out and colored a polar bear.

Statson Patterson was this week’s winner for the trivia question.

The library began a seating exercise program along with a Zumba program.

Dr. Lauren Wooten, of Freeport Family Health Center is accepting new patients at Barnesville Family Health Center.

Four Seasons Garden Club met at the home of Sharon Gump on Feb. 26. Club president Judy Workley opened the meeting reading the inspiration "God’s Valentine." Donna Koch has finalized plans for "Horticulture Day" to be held April 22, at Moorefield Community Center. They need further information on the "plant swap" next month.

The club’s open meeting is scheduled for March 25 has been canceled due to remodeling of the venue at Puskarich Library in Cadiz. A club meeting will be held that day at the home of Judy Workley.
