Belmont SWCD board meetings set
Belmont Soil and Water Conservation District announces the following board meeting dates for 2018: Nov. 12, Dec. 10. Meetings will be held at 101 Market St., St. Clairsville, at 6 p.m. The meetings are open to the public.
Bat celebration event scheduled
A bat celebration event is set for Oct. 29 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the St. Clairsville Bike Trail Gazebo (intersection of Hutchinson Drive and Sunset Drive; street parking). The event is open to all ages; adults and children. The event is free. There will be candy, bat stuff and more. There will also be door prizes, three chambered bat house and bat books.
Come out to celebrate bats and learn more about why they are important to our ecosystem. Live demo of Big Brown Bat showcased by Ohio Wildlife Center. Virtual Reality experience 360°Batnado of Bracken Cave.
Story walk along the trail with several stations including: parts of bats, bat habitat, echolocation, myths of why bats are scary, importance of bats, decline of bats, what’s being done to help them, and how to get involved. Bat House Trail will be showcased that was implemented by Belmont SWCD, Ohio Valley Christian Home School Educators, and St. Clairsville City Electric, and sponsored by Denoon Lumber.
