GREEN  The Akron-Canton Airport recently promoted Lisa Davala Dalpiaz to director of marketing.

Davala Dalpiaz has been with the airport for two years and formerly served as the marketing coordinator She is a graduate of Kent State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations. Prior to working at the airport, Davala Dalpiaz worked for several online marketing agencies.

She replaces Kristie Van Auken, who left the airport after 20 years to take a job at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Davala Dalpiaz will be responsible for leading branding, marketing, communications, air service development and public interaction initiatives. She said one of the challenges in air service is that it is ever-changing, and the airport must be proactive to these changes.

Davala Dalpiaz plans to focus on continuing to engage and communicate with airliners and continue to grow economic development with them. She said the Akron-Canton Airport being convenient for so many companies makes it easy for business leaders to fly.

"The airport is a great economic generator," Davala said. "It is nice to have travel options."

Davala Dalpiaz said the airport is on social media constantly interacting with customers and marketing services offered. She encourages people to interact with the airport on social media to let them know how their experience was.

She said working at the airport is a lot of fun and it is a new experience every single day.

"Our whole airport is like such a big family," Davala Dalpiaz said. "Everyone puts a lot of pride into their work and that is something to be proud of."

She said the operations team deserves a lot of credit for working hard so planes can depart during the winter months. She said they are people clearing snow from the runway when no one else is around.

Davala Dalpiaz said the airport has great leadership under President Rick McQueen.

"Lisa is doing a terrific job," McQueen said. "I am excited for what she brings to the table and what we can look forward to as we move forward."

The airport recently completed upgrades to the front entrance and the parking lot. The airport added covered parking, which Davala Dalpiaz said was one of the most requested items. Future plans include upgrading the gates, which is expected to begin next year.

One of Davala Dalpiaz’s big projects recently was the launch of Spirit Airlines. She said it has been a great partner and brings another low-cost addition to the airport. Spirit plans to offer flights to Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach beginning in late April.

Outside of the airport, Davala Dalpiaz enjoys blogging about the local region, which she said is underappreciated. She is also an active member of Torchbearers, CORE YoungProfessionals, ystark! and dedicates time volunteering with various causes and charities in Northeast Ohio.
