Seven residents of St. Luke’s Lutheran community are at least 100 years old. If candles were lit for each member of the centenarian club, there would be 724 burning, said Kristie Woods, director of development & community relations.
The residents include: Jennie Blackwood, 101; Helen Lemmon, 101; Hilda Engleman, the oldest at 108; Beulah Swinehart, 105; and Naomi Moore, 100. Back row and standing are Mary Muckley, 107; and Martha Meister, 102.
One resident chose not to be photographed until September when she will officially join the club.
Girl Scout Troop #60192 from Perry Township visited Mary Muckley on her 107th birthday on April 20. After the girls sang Happy Birthday to her, Muckley encouraged them to be good girls until they reach 107. Most of the girls only have 99 more years to go.
