NORTH CANTON Hoover softball has been the most successful program in recent school history and has dominated Stark County softball for a decade, so it’s fitting that the Vikings had three senior sign their letters of intent to play at the college level on national signing day.
Among them was Heather Pinney, a member of the program’s 2014 state championship team. Pinney hit a key home run in last season’s district championship win over Perry, committed to play college softball for Wheeling Jesuit. Pinney is a three-year letterwinner with a career batting average of .359 and was named to the All-Federal League first team in both 2014 and 2015.
Pinney was the starting third baseman last season for a Hoover team that reached the Akron Division I regional final before falling to Walsh Jesuit.
