In an executive session that lasted nearly an hour and a half, the trustees unanimously passed the following resolution.
“NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the Plain Township Board of Trustees, Stark County, Ohio to terminate the employment of Nick Campanelli, the Zoning and Economic Planning and Development Director, effective immediately.”
Campanelli had served in this capacity since Jan. 25, 2011 and was paid $55,000. He had previously worked in the Plain Township zoning department from April 1990 until November 2001.
CORRECTION TO THE MAY 7 PRINT EDITION:
In the May 7 issue, it was stated that “based on drug test results from Mr. Campanelli taken on April 19, the trustees’ decision to terminate was carefully and confidently made, Board of Trustees’ president Scott Haws confirmed.”
This statement should be corrected to read that based on an investigation that was made on April 19, the trustees made their decision. Drug test results are confidential.
