Maplewood Career Center, located at 7075 S.R. 88 in Ravenna, will host its annual Christmas in the Woods craft show. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the show that has grown into a respected venue for showcasing the work of artisans and attracts visitors from all over the state of Ohio.
According to craft show coordinator Anita Binegar, "There will always be the traditional crafters who have patronized our show for several years, but in addition, there will be many new vendors with their unique designs. The advantage of holding such a large show at the beginning of the holiday season is the crafters have their best inventory on display." This year, more than 160 artisans will showcase their crafts.
The Maplewood Culinary Arts program will offer a variety of baked goods. The Hospitality Service Careers program will sell cookies, candies, and their famous buckeyes. The Southeast High School Swing Choir will be caroling in the hallways on Saturday. Santa will be on hand for photos from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Show hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 2 and 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Nov. 3. Admission is free and there is plenty of free parking. For shoppers’ convenience, there will be a continual van shuttle Friday night from Portage Industries, which is located just across from Maplewood on S.R. 88. No strollers permitted.
