CUMBERLAND COUNCIL LOOKING FOR WORKER

CUMBERLAND — Village Council is looking for a mature, active, experienced adult with a valid driver’s license to work 80 hours per month– more or less. There is no requirement to live in the village. Anyone who may be interested please contact Village Administrator Gary Stevens at 740-638-5795.

UPCOMING EVENTS

The next Pickin’ in the Pavilion at the Rix Mills Presbyterian Church is on Sunday July 22. The music starts at 7 p.m. There will be an ice cream social from 5-7 p.m. The church is located on Rix Mills Road in Rix Mills just off of SR 313.

July 14 - Longaberger Basket Bingo will take place at the Cumberland Firehouse at the intersection of Main and Cambridge streets in Cumberland. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. with bingo starting at 6 p.m.

There is a $20 donation for the first pack and a $5 donation for each extra pack. Special games are $1 per sheet.

Early bird tickets will be available from fire department members or at Howell-Craig Insurance (502 East Main Street in Cumberland). Early bird tickets are also available at 6 Ds Store located at the intersection of Cambridge Street (SR 146) and Singer Road in Cumberland. Those buying early bird tickets will be entered into a drawing for a wrought iron Christmas tree.

There is also a separate raffle going on for a wrought iron desk set with baskets, liners and protectors. Tickets are a $1 donation each or a book of six tickets for $5. The winner does not have to be present to win.

July 16 - The Spencer Township Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. in the Township Building on Mill Street in Cumberland.

July 23 - The next meeting of Valley Grange 1586, is scheduled to take place at the Center United Methodist Church on Cadiz Road (US 22) east of Cambridge. There will be a covered dish meal at noon. The Grange will provide chicken, table ware and some beverages. Those attending should bring sides, salads and/or desserts.

July 31 - There will be a blood drive at the Buffalo (Cumberland) Presbyterian Church from 1:30-6:30 p.m. Contact Elizabeth Whited at 740-638-3463 to schedule an appointment or to let her know that you plan to drop in and donate.

Aug 11 - A Think F.A.S.T. – Farm & Ag Safety Training will take place from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Morgan County Fairgrounds 2760 N. Riverside Drive, McConnelsville. The event is hosted by the Morgan County Farm Bureau and is open to the public. There will be safety education for all ages plus door prizes and a pedal tractor pull. The event is completely free, but reservations are requested because lunch is provided. Lunch reservations may be placed by calling 740-452-2356 or at morgan@ofbf.org.

Wednesdays - There is a quilting group get together beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Cumberland located at the intersection of Main and Church Streets.

Thursdays - Euchre is scheduled at the Chandlersville Community Building from 7 – 9 pm weather permitting. (The Community Building is the old Chandlersville School located on SR 146 in Chandlersville.)

Summer Sack Lunch Program - Sack lunches are for children up to 18 years old. They can be picked up at the church from noon – 12:30 pm Monday – Friday at the Cumberland United Methodist Church at the intersection of Main and Cambridge Streets (SR’s 146 & 340) in Cumberland.

The menu will be: Mondays – Pizza; Tuesdays – Sloppy Joes or soft tacos; Wednesdays – Peanut Butter and Jelly; Thursdays – Grill Cheese; and Fridays – hot dogs.
