Freedom Township Historical Society’s next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Freedom Community Center on S.R. 700.
There will be no special program; instead members will hold a business meeting to discuss the renovations at Freedom School No. 2 and plans for proceeding with that renovation.
They will also discuss fundraising ideas to help finance the renovations and share an 1850 handmade map of Freedom Township. This was done by Sandra Paul Tittle for her eighth grade Ohio history class project.
Meetings are open to anyone interested in Freedom’s history. Anyone who needs a ride or for more information, call Judy at 330-527-7669.
The ongoing fundraiser is selling T-shirts and sweatshirts. There are two designs to choose from: the first features the Freedom School on S.R. 700 that was torn down; the second is a drawing of Freedom School No. 2, the one-room school house that was built by 1874. Contact Judy at 330-527-7669 or Amanda at firstname.lastname@example.org to place an order.
