Rootstown Historical Society members will host a Community Picnic for members, guests and the public on Tuesday starting at 6 p.m. at the Clara Root Pavilion in the Rootstown Community Park.
Attendees may enter from Cook Road or Case Avenue. Bring a picnic dish and/or dessert to share. Table service and drink will be provided.
After the picnic supper, Old Time Games will be played by all ages. Lawn chairs may be brought along if desired.
A program will be presented, "History of the 10 One-room School Houses in Rootstown, Including the Famous Chicken Coop." Those attending may chime in with their own school house story if they wish.
To conclude the evening, attendees can watch the sunset at 8:58 p.m. over the park pond at the highest point in Rootstown’s landscape. In case of rain, those attending should meet at the First United Congregational Church hall.
