Jackson Parks is holding its annual fishing derby from 8 to 11 a.m. May 5 at Jackson North Park. Children ages 15 and under are invited to participate and they should bring their own poles and bait and try to catch one of the many fish stocked specially for this event. Children will get to participate in special events such as the Kids Casting contest and the Big Fish Contest. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Free Comic Book Day
The Toys Time Forgot, 137 Cherry St. E, Canal Fulton is holding its 16th annual Free Comic Book Day beginning at 11 a.m. May 5. Stop by Canal Fulton’s favorite toy store for donuts, hot pizza, Plibee the clown making animal balloons and many other guests and activities.
Art Exhibit: African Menagerie is open daily through July 22 at the Canton Museum of Art, 1001 Market Ave. N. It’s a panoramic that gives visitors a chance to discover and explore the plight of African wildlife species. Visit www.cantonart.org for details.
There will be free admission for moms for Mother’s Day on May 12 to tour the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum, 800 McKinley Drive NW, Canton. Give mom her gift a day early and bring her to the museum on the day before Mother’s Day.
The Richard Fry Memorial Catfish Derby will be from 8 to 11 a.m. May 12 at Petros Lake Park, 3519 Perry Drive SW, Perry Twp. This annual derby is for kids 4 to 15. Bait, beverages and food will be on sale. Children must have their own pole.
