AKRON  Join the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank on Dec. 1 as it partners with iHeartMedia for the Long Haul Against Hunger. Community members interested in supporting the Foodbank are encouraged to drop off monetary donations and non-perishable food items.

Donations will be accepted at Giant Eagle locations in Jackson Township, 6493 Strip Ave. NW, and Fairlawn, 2775 W. Market St., from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Volunteers will be onsite to accept monetary donations and to help unload food donations from vehicles.

"We’re proud to support the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank over the years," said Keith Kennedy, radio personality and area senior VP of programming for iHeartMedia, in a news release. "They are a vital resource in our community, dedicated to helping those struggling with hunger. It’s important that we, as a community, rally together to help support them this holiday season."

Because of support from Summa Health, FirstEnergy Foundation, The J.M. Smucker Company and the 415 Group, monetary donations made throughout the day will be matched. Every $1 donated equals eight meals.

People who can't make it to either location but would still like to participate in the Holiday Campaign, can make a donation by visiting akroncantonfoodbank.org/longhaul. Gifts will also be matched.
