NORTH CANTON The North Canton Library has been hosting lunchtime outdoor concerts called The Patio Parties for the past few years. This is the first year the series has been expanded to include an early evening performance.
Library Communications Manager Christina Weyrick said the feedback from the community suggested offering the live performances in the evening in addition to the noon time programming.
"Offering the Patio Parties series is the library’s way of increasing arts programming in the heart of North Canton," Weyrick said. "As part of the library’s strategic plan, we’ve been adding more and more programming in response to community feedback where people want more of the arts in downtown North Canton. There haven’t been a lot of arts offered in the area so we are happy to bring these musical artists into the area with this series."
The Patio Parties this year included Dustin Allen with an all-requests, all-hour at noon on July 21. Then he performed an acoustic show with his band Hope for Hollow at 5 p.m.
The Angie Haze Project is a small band that performs Indi, blues and folk music and will play Friday. With bells around her ankle, a handmade tambourine shoe, drums/percussion encircling her piano, a guitar, a cowbell, melodica, and a kazoo; Angie Haze, the Italian American, singer-songwriting entertainer, showcases herself as a one-woman band playing multiple instruments simultaneously while also singing.
Then at 5 p.m. Friday, Erin Nicole Neal and the Chill Factors will perform jazz, soul and rock. Erin Nicole and The Chill Factors venture into several genres to collectively accommodate the members many years of experience between Blues, Jazz, Rock and Soul! Influences range from many artists including but not limited to: The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, AC/DC, Nina Simone, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Chick Corea, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughn and many more.
"The response to the evening performance has been great and we will probably continue the series next summer with the noon and the 5 p.m. performances," Weyrick.
