JACKSON TWP. An old plaza is getting new life as a new Marc’s and Panera Bread are being constructed where the former Aston Park plaza once stood in Jackson Township.
In November, A. Altman Co. purchased the plaza, which faces Belpar Street NW between Dressler Road and Everhard Road NW. A majority of the plaza was demolished to make way for the new Marc’s and Panera.
Richard Altman said the new store and restaurant will replace the eyesore that formerly sat on the property. Both Marc’s and Panera plan to open in August and the new space will allow for both to offer additional services to customers.
The Panera Bread will feature a drive-thru, the first in Stark County, and move from its current location on Belden Village Street NW.
"This will be a nice new development," Altman said. "It will be better inside and out and offer better parking."
Altman said a portion of the old plaza was kept and is being used as office space for Tebo, a financial services business.
The current Marc’s store on Belden Village Street NW will move into the space and increase square footage from 30,000 to 47,000 square-feet. Altman said the additional 17,000 square-feet will allow for a lot of additional items for customers.
The project is moving along well and is on schedule Altman said.
It remains unclear of what will move into the former Marc’s and Panera space, but Altman said he doesn’t think the buildings will be vacant very long.
A request for additional information from Marc’s about their new store was not returned.
