The area of Malabar Farm in Mansfield is well known for its history and its fall panorama of colors. Those trees that offer the color are now filled with the sweet goodness of Ohio maple syrup.

Malabar Farm State Park will demonstrate sugaring techniques from earlier days back when the area was home to Native Americans to the way maple syrup is made today. A self-guided tour of the sugar camp and sugarhouse will produce all the action of the evolution of sugaring equipment and how the sap becomes syrup.

Bring the whole family as the kids, parents and grandparents will enjoy the horse-drawn wagon rides to the sugar camp. Free samples of the Ohio "grown" maple syrup will be available at the sugar house. Pure Ohio maple syrup, homemade maple walnut fudge, maple cotton candy, maple popcorn and other maple products will be available in the Malabar Farm Gift Shop throughout the season.

Visitors will be treated to live music and light refreshments are offered in nearby Pugh Log Cabin. The festival runs March 4-5 and 11-12, from noon to 4 p.m.
