LAKE TWP.  The Lake Local Board of Education held the annual organizational meeting on Jan. 9. The board re-elected Derrick Bailey as board president and David Poling as board vice president.

The board also set meeting dates for the third Monday of every month starting at 7:30 in the large group instruction room in Lake Middle School. Plus, the board approved Ohio School Board Association membership for $5,968 plus a $250 for legal assistance fund consultant.

OTHER ACTIONS: 

- The district recognized the members of the board for their service and commitment to the district and was given a certificate of appreciation by Superintendent Kevin Tobin.

- Approved graduation for 3 p.m., June 3 at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

- Authorized the purchase of two 77-passenger buses through the Stark County Council of Government Cooperative at a total cost of just under $81,000 each.

- Viewed a 3D model digital presentation of the grades 2-6 elementary school building updates and additions.

UP NEXT: The next Board meeting is 7:30 p.m., Feb. 13 at Lake Middle School, 511 Market Ave., SW, Hartville. The regular meeting date was changed from Feb. 20 because of President’s Day.
