Canton Ballet will honor longtime ballet and community volunteer Ruth Bazzoli during its Glitz & Glam Gala from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Nov. 5. The event, the ballet’s largest fundraiser, will take place in the Great Court of the Cultural Center for the Arts, 1001 Market Ave. N., Canton.
Bazzoli, of Jackson Township, is founder and multiple past chair of the the ballet’s annual fundraiser, the former Nutcracker Ball. She became interested in serving the ballet as parent of her daughter Nicole, who was a 14-year student of School of Canton Ballet and later danced with the performing company. As three-time president of the Canton Ballet Barre Association, she was a Canton Ballet board of trustees member for several years.
Her additional community involvement includes past board member of Faith in Action of central Stark county; parish council secretary, cantor and choir member, senior activities coordinator and guild member of St. John the Baptist Basilica; cantor and senior activities coordinator at St. Peter Church; and member of Mercy Medical Center service league. She is a registered nurse of 37 years and former apheresis coordinator at Aultman Hospital. She is married to Dr. Vic Bazzoli and has five children and 11 grandchildren.
The Glitz & Glam Gala will be an evening of auctions, cocktails, dinner and dancing with The Chozen Few Band. Tickets are $100 per person. Recommended attire is black tie optional. Proceeds will benefit School of Canton Ballet financial aid, school outreach and educational programming.
