Area residents are invited to an evening of musical entertainment by the classic rock-n-roll band, the Hitmen, on Saturday, April 28, at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church.

Free and open to the public, the program will begin at 7 p.m. in St. Jacob’s Garnes Social Hall. It will feature danceable music of the 1960s through ‘80s, including hits popularized by the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, the Beatles, Monkees, Eagles, Lynyrd Skynrd, Cheap Trick, Bachman-Turner-Overdrive, AC/DC, Kiss, ZZ Top and others.

Seating is first-come-first-served and no tickets are required. Plenty of free parking also is available. The church is at 1460 State St. N.E. between Ohio Rt. 43 and Market Ave.

A free-will offering will be taken for the benefit of FISH, Lake Township’s emergency food pantry.

The four musicians come from a variety of vocational backgrounds. Dr. Kent Ramsey, who doubles on electric guitar and digital keyboard, is an ear, nose and throat specialist at Ohio Head & Neck Center.

John Arnold, on bass guitar and harmonica, works as a tire engineer for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron.

Dr. Todd Johnson, on digital drum and other percussion instruments, is a cardiologist.

Group spokesman “Skip” Scherer, who doubles on the trumpet and keyboard, is a retired director of communications for Goodyear and a freelance writer.

All four men also sing lead and provide background vocals. For further information contact the church at (330) 877-2676.
