The Plain Local Schools Board of Education accepted the resignation of board president, Nick Campanelli, at a special meeting on May 2. Campanelli had been a member of the board since being elected in 2008.

Campanelli submitted his resignation on April 28 and reaffirmed it on May 1 in a letter to the Board of Education. “I would like to thank the many people who have been supportive of me. However, after much consideration, I am respectfully resigning from the Plain Local Board of Education in order to focus my energy on improving my personal well being. I wish Mr. May and the district great success in the future. As an alumnus of the district I will always remain a loyal Golden Eagle,” Campanelli wrote.

"We support Nick as we would support any employee getting help on any personal matter in their life,” said Plain Schools superintendent Brent May.

Board vice president Kristen Guardado has taken over as president. The new vice president will be decided once the new board member is appointed.

The Board is accepting resumes from those interested in serving as a member. A cover letter, which should include the reasons why the interested party would like to serve, and a resume can be mailed, emailed or faxed by Thursday, May 10 at 4 p.m.

Interviews will take place at the next scheduled board meeting on Wednesday, May 16. The meeting time and location have been changed. It will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the administrative offices, 901 44th St. NW.
